Where Do I Stand in the "Insider/Outsider" Debate?

After reading the articles for class and much thought, I've decided that it is best for those who are a part of the group of people to write about that group of people. What they write will most likely be authentic because they have understanding of the history of these groups, traditions, and what it means to be a part of these groups. As an outsider, we just don't necessarily have an understanding of these things. I feel as if there may be some exceptions though. If an outsider has a lot of experience with a group of people and takes their work to someone who is an insider and has them look it over, then I believe that they are qualified to write about that group of people. Sometimes, an outsider's view is needed, but it must be accurate!
